There is a fantastic opportunity for your child to belong to a sports club!
Different sports codes are available for them to choose from, including athletics, table tennis, boccia, basketball, tennis, football 7-A-Side and swimming. The membership forms can be downloaded from our 'documents tab' at the top of the blog. If you are interested, we strongly encourage you to have your child classified at the WP regional classifications for the physically disabled on the 6th of September. For more information, please contact Clare. This week in food skills we discovered how yeast works.
We did an experiment using yeast, warm water and sugar. The yeast was dormant (sleeping) in the sachet. When we added it to the warm sugary water, it woke up and started eating the sugar. After a little while, the yeast started to give off (burp) CO2 - carbon dioxide. This is what makes the bubbles in our bread dough, making the bread soft and fluffy. The SNU Smart shop opened this week with loads of excitement and happy shoppers.
Our goal was to focus on identifying and selecting different products on the shelves. Maths is being taught in a practical and fun way to help to develop and transfer the skills. We learned many additional skills including how to pass other shoppers in the isle and how to greet the shop staff appropriately. Today in food skills we read a story about the Food Investigators who found out all about different breads. We each had a taste of corn bread, cottage loaf and naan bread.
