Yesterday we went on an outing to the Cape Town Science Centre in Observatory. We were treated to an interactive lesson on magnets and then the students were able to explore and experiment with various science stations throughout the centre. There was also a short science show about chemical reactions. We were then able to see and learn about the Camera Obscura (there are only 20 in the whole world and South Africa has 4 of them!) The staff each had a go on the Human Gyroscope and all managed at least a minute - except for Debbie who lasted about 10 seconds :). It was an enjoyable and educational experience. |

We made grilled cheese (and tomato for some) sandwiches in Food Skills today and they were delicious! Here is the recipe so that you can also make them at home! (Don't forget that even though the recipe is called Cheese Chilli Toast Sandwich you do not need to put chlili onto it unless you want to.) ![]()
Nerves and excitement were mingled as some of the older students went to do skills training in the work place. They all did very well!

In Independent Living Skills we are discussing the topic of Stranger Danger. We encourage you to check that your child is aware of safety procedures in your home. Place a list of emergency contact numbers in an accessible place i.e. on the fridge, and ensure that your child is aware of which number to call in an emergency.
